In total adherence to the mandate given by His Excellency, Muhammadu Buhari, to woo Investors as well as find a way to strike a mutual trade balance between the host country and Nigeria, we are glad to inform that the maiden Nigeria Ireland Trade and Investment Summit was successfully hosted in Dublin, Ireland between 1-2 July, 2022.

Amongst the participants were, the Irish ambassador to Nigeria; Her Excellency, Sile Maguire, The Nigerian Honourable Minster of State for Industry, Trade and Investment; Amb. Mariam Katagum and her counterpart; TD Minister Robert Troy, The Nigerian Minister of State for Petroleum; His Excellency, Timipre Silva, the Irish Minister of Environment, Climate and Communications; TD Eamon Ryan, The CEO of Nigerian Export Promotion Council; Dr. Era Yakusak, CEO Irish Exporters Association; Simon Mckeever, Representative of Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, CEO Dublin Chambers of Commerce; Mary Rose Burke, Director of EU and International Affairs (IBEC); Dr. Pat Ivory, Country representative, Enterprise Ireland; Ms. Thessa Bagu, West Africa Regional Manager Bord Bia; Ms. Ese Ekpomo, Director Zones, Nigeria Export Processing Zone Authority (NEPZA); Mr. Mua’zu Ruma, the Deputy Comptroller General, Nigeria Custom Services; Ms. K. C. Ekekezi, etc.

The private sector who was the chief driver of the Trade Summit, was mobilized to bridge the gap in trade deficit and chart a way for sustainability of the same. This made it an impactful and a value added event.

The Embassy of Nigeria, Dublin host the Diplomat Corps and Nigerian Community for the 62nd National Independence Day Anniversary.

On the 25th of October 2022, the Ambassador Designate of Ireland to Nigeria, Mr. Peter Ryan paid a courtesy visit to H.E Ambassador Ijeoma Obiezu, Ambassador of Nigeria to Ireland with concurrent accreditation to Iceland. Their discussion focused on how to deepen the bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest especially, but not limited to economic cooperation, culture, education and parliamentary collaboration.

On 27 October, Her Excellency Amani Sara, the Ivorian Ambassador to Ireland paid a courtesy visit to Her Excellency, Ambassador (Mrs.) Ijeoma Obiezu.

The International Charity Bazaar (ICB) held on 23rd October, 2022. The ICB is a charity event hosted by the Diplomatic Corps of Ireland in partnership with local communities. Embassies present, including the Embassy of Nigeria, showcased their culture, exotic food, traditional produce, arts and crafts.

A sideline bilateral meeting between President Muhammadu Buhari and President Michael Higgins of Ireland in Darkar, Senegal on the 25th of January, 2023, during the Africa Food Sovereignty and Resilience Summit organised by the President of African Development Bank: Mr. Akinwumi Adesina and the government of Senegal.
